In addition to Pat's list of immediate "go-dos" you also need to check the red connector under the left sidecover.

This connector has a red wire and a brown-ish wire.  Pull it apart and check for any sign of corrosion or melting

Barry,

Quote2) Replace those 35 year old rubber brake lines. They are long over due.

Any decent hydraulics shop can copy your brake lines, in braided stainless steel with translucent colored sheathing, if desired.
Get the banjo ends that can pivot (hydraulic lines do not twist, normally).
You can get banjo bolts with brake bleeders in them, US$15~20 from the right sellers.  Those bleeder bolts are great for the hydraulic lines where they enter the master cylinders.
You can also get some (pricey) tailored sets of stainless braided hoses, if desired.
Speedbleeders (if you can find them) are some trick bleeder fittings make brake bleeding an easy, one-guy job.
Always replace the banjo bolt washers with new ones, when you remove any banjo bolt for any reason.  They are not expensive.
Not everything has to be done before you enjoy the FJ.  As long as it is basically safe, have some fun.

.
Cheers,
Red

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.

Welcome!

Awesome list of past bikes!
Thanks,
Have to say the RD 350 LC was the most exciting bike I have ever ridden.

Had an RD350LC several years ago - bought as a project - sold/gave away before I could do anything with it.  Also had an RZ350 - broke my collar bone on that one road racing a few decades ago.

Wish I had that LC back.....

We always called it the Kenny Rogers special at work.  Fun is why we are here!
