Givi turn signals-LED

I guess I needed a project. I really don't need one as my work is atypical and busted full in spite of the Covid-19 lock down.

My left side turn signal (GIVI) has been dodgy since day one. After a closer look I see that the plastic has broken and the connection to the lamp base has become hit and miss. Well that dodgy connection has inspired me to convert it to LED. The other factor in motivation are some spare LED strips laying about at work slated for the trash bin.

So I cut a piece of ABS and trimmed/bent it with heat to fit the GIVI turn signal base.

Then cut and mounted the LED strips and secured with SST safety wire.

Then soldered the power and ground connections so I can add slip fit terminals to connect it to the bike. I plan to add a resistor to fool the fast flash feature.

The strips will get sealed for better wet resistance once the assembly is done.

Way too much work for the average bike owner to mount and solder the connections. The LED strips come from FlexFire  and are super bright. Up close they hurt the eyes.

More to come as I progress...
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

That looks great.... can't wait to see the finished work.
