I've got a Fj1200 1989 33k on clock

I'm going to break the whole bike but want the engine to go first as its running bike.

Located in the Midlands UK

3Rigel,

I do not know the UK system, but in the USA there is some red tape involved with "un-registering" a motor vehicle.
It may be a good idea to check with your Motor Vehicles authorities and/or the local police before you make the bike vanish.

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.

It's a simple on-line process here Red, but also one that doesn't actually have to be done. We have a much more simple registration system here than either of the ones in Aus/USA. When you stop using a vehicle, to exempt yourself from the annual "road tax" payment, you simply make a an online declaration that the vehicle is "off the road" and the  DVSA basically "forget" about the bike.  If you want to follow the rules to the letter, you can then declare (again, on-line) that the bike has been "scrapped" and it is removed entirely from the DVSA data base.

Breaking bikes for parts is a very common thing, which our system makes easy. In general, our Police don't give two hoots about registration details, unless your numberplate is registered on a speed camera. :negative:
