We have had some very nice warm days in the fifty's. My son Ian texted me he was taking his bike for a ride . I joined him and we took a ride up to Virginia city. The roads were dry with no sand or salt brine stripes to slide on. It was a beautiful ride but too short so we decided to ride up the Mt Rose hwy heading to Tahoe. The first two thirds of the ride the roads and scenery was fantastic the last third we encountered a lot of snow melt running across the road. We rode up to the Slide Mt side of the MT Rose ski resort. It was around four pm by then and the temperature at 8200' was down to the mid thirty's. We decided with the sun already down behind the mountains and still another 800' in altitude to climb before the summit to head home.If we had left a couple of hours earlier we could have made it up to the lake. This could be a great year for spring riding with the moderate snow pack so far.
