I ride my ITX and I also ride a 2000 XR650L what they call a dual purpose machine. I ride the XR to work on back roads where the FJ shouldnt go and cant go. Now this XR is modded of coarse and has been with me for many years and more then a few broken bones. Last reck it was on its side to long while I was wondering if mike tyson just right hooked me, had to rebuild and big bore piston went in. Its now a 667 single thumper, nice low end grunt and power is not an issue. Getting a little off track. I was told by an older chap that there is no such thing as a dual purpose motorcycle, I think now that it is a true statement, but I think the XRL is the closest motorcycle to do both street and full dirt. In rolls these adventure bikes, there is no way these bikes are following me from asphalt to rough trails mud sand and dirt, my opinion is they are glorified dirt and gravel road runners where Noel has probably trumped them on his FJ in the outback!! Just dont see the value. And to me an Africa twin is just more of the XR on steroids its heavier but has storage. Maybe next topic to bring up is powerfull nakeds.................... :bomb:
