 Good day, fellas.
Is there a write-up on how to adjust the timing chain?  Nothing in the manual.

When I start it up, it rattles for a couple seconds.    There is a bolt and nut sticking out of the end of it.   That can only be for adjusting, I assume.

They are automatic spring loaded adjusters.

There are manual timing chain tensioners out there but I have yet to see actual adjustment instructions. Almost every engine I have seen that has a manual tensioner  had the chain and guides ruined. I guess the actual adjustment for these is pray you get it right.

Pat, I'm always impressed at how you find these prehistoric threads.  Not that there is anything wrong with them, just the opposite.  They are loaded with good tech.  It's that how you find them or remember where they are that's impressive.

Thanks Joe, most are saved in the Files.

OK.  Thanx Robert.
And Pat, how you find those IS amazing.  I almost never find what Im looking for in the searches I do.

Funny thing is now I'm not getting any noise at cold startup.  As one member put it, " I guess it just fixed itself. "
I'll just keep an eye on it.   :good:
