Well a few weeks after the off it was time to see if I was up to doing some repairs to the Pink strip. One of my favourite repair stuff is Qbond so a start on the fairing began. I had to work slow as the right arm was still healing but working on the bike a little at a time helped with the healing process. There was a fair amount of busted ABS to fix and or replace.

I used a lot of glass reinforced resin on the Chin fairing and then ground it down into shape. Once close a light weight filler to fill the grind marks and pits. Qbond is great for stitching up splits and making new tabs and alike. Bigger mounts can be fashioned out of Kneadit.

For long cracks in heavy ABS like panniers super glue can be used to form a repair then grind a V in echside and fill with the Qbond powder for a super strong joint.

Sanding these joints is a bit of a art as the abs and Qbond sand at different rates.

Once finances allow I will get the mufflers re wrapped and do some more paint matching as the pearl is a tough one to block..

Incredible work Richard.  :good2: :drinks: :good:

Everyone in Australia now knows where to send their plastic bits for repairs and paint.

:sorry: :sorry: :sorry:

It still worked, I did replace a muffler and mirror  :good:
and 3 years ago I replaced the cracked points cover from that accident.
Now if I had of known I was going to meet a bunch of blokes with the same bike, well I might have done it.
Even back then I thought I was the only one with an FJ.

Beautiful repair work. I still like those stripes on the wheels.

Richard, you have missed your calling. This is not plastic repair but cosmetic surgery! You seem to have nailed the process.

There are a lot of women on the Gold Coast who would kill for a job that good.

Well done.

Hope to catch up with you at a manshed event this year, you shunned us in favour of hobnobbing with the Yanks last year.
