Hello
That's my first post here. I have 88 fj1200. She have throttle cables with white splitter box. Now i need to change those cables because they are stiff. its hard to open and close throttle.
Do i have to change for those same cables with box (3cv version) or i can use cables from 3cx without this box?
Thanks

I would keep the splitter box, it is much easier to disconnect the cables at the box than at the throttle twist grip.
Makes it a lot easier to remove the carbs when required.

You would need to change the throttle side handlebar guide as well if swapping over to the later 2 cable design.

hades32,

There is a slick cable-lube tool that works with an aerosol spray lube-and-straw.  You could use the "sandwich baggy" method.  Any decent motorcycle shop should be able to fabricate new custom cables for you, also.  Check the pix here:

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.

Robert, are those two cable lubers for two different applications or just two different styles of tool?  Do you have something for the speedo cable as well?

The v3 is their 3rd version it is supposed to be less messy than the version 1

Redline grease for the speedo, the speedo cable comes out of it's protector no need for a special tool.

Thanks for all answers.
I took off all cables off then I wash them by WD 40. Bit by bit. It's take me a 4 hours to get them free. Now they are working fine.
