Both mine have the flap and receiver for a backrest.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

The genuine Yamaha accessory Corbin does not have the port for the backrest.
Many of the early ones did not.
I have one I'd sell with a backrest, when time allows.

I still have this seat, I am pretty sure it would need to be recovered.

Also a Ventura rack and huge bag, it is growing on me....

I'm holding on to both for a bit.
