Check out the Mecum Auction coming up in Houston Texas April 4 through the 6th.  There are 15 FJs coming up for auction! I have been watching auctions for a while and very seldom do any FJs show up. Most or all the bikes to be sold on Thursday are part of the "Mur the Blur" Collection. Who is Mur the Blur? Mur had a bunch of bikes and some are very nice. Besides FJs he had a thing for Kawasaki ZR1200 (14) and Honda CBR1100xx (6) not to mention various Ducatis. I am going to watch this auction very closely. I sure hope the FJs bring the estimated prices. At those prices my bikes become very valuable. Check out the whole collection at

Hmmmm... I gotta say, buying one of the '89s or the '90 and transferring over my suspension, brakes, and YZR600R rear wheel onto it is probably a smarter use of $5,000 than having the engine rebuilt on my 117,000 mile '89.

Very nice collection. Those are the same bikes I would have collected. It will be interesting to see what kind of prices the FJ's bring. I purchased a 93 last year in better shape than theirs and at less that half the price they are hoping to get. I don't think they will get anywhere close to the $6000 to $7000 they estimate. But auctions are crazy. You never know.

A pistol is like a parachute, if you need one and don't have one you will never need one again.

I had to stay home today due to cataract surgery yesterday, so I had time to watch the auction. I sure wish I went to the auction. Several bikes went for not much money. The pallets of parts that had a lot of FJ parts went for $100 to $300. One 86 project bike that did not look that bad didn't even get a $100 bid. Probably better I didn't go or I would have to figure out get all the swag home.
