OK, I feel a little stupid asking this, but how do you get the Spring off the OEM shock?

I've got the spring compressed on my 89 shock, but I can't for the life of me see how to get the rings and collars off so the spring can slide off. I'm not looking to rebuild the stocker, I just want the spring for "mock up" purposes.

I'm hoping I am just missing a snap ring under some dirt or something else simple like that....

Never-mind, found it. Couldn't see the snap ring under a dirt covering....
