I have polished the aluminium on the engine covers what now?  im thinking of clearcote them with spraymax 2k .Is that a bad idea? i know its easy to repolish but want a little protection to the soft alu. Will  2k clearcote stick to mirror finish surface?

pay for shipping i can throw a clear coat on via powder coat. let me know! located in omaha nebraska. you could call around your area for applicators...

the clear coats i have create immense sheen and would protect your paint and polished surface. the picture is the rear set i reconditioned with a multi coat candy red. i can also powder coat engine pieces such as covers cases heads cylinders ect, but in most cases they won't help your engine run cooler

That looks like good quality paint job! :good2: Now i dont have the time to start ship the parts to the states anyway because i will start to assemble the engine now so i hopfully can get the bike  on the road as fast as possible.

Not sure how well it all shows up here, but I used "Halfords Heavy Duty Polyeurathane Clear Lacquer" on my polished alloy footrest plates and as the final coat on my silver painted frame.

On the engine cases and on the Aluminium cover of the exhaust silencer, I used Simoniz Clear Engine Lacquer.

The instructions for both are to not "polish" the surface of the Aluminium, but to leave it with a fine grit sanded finish - around 1200 grade - I wasn't happy with this and finished all my Aluminium off with wire (steel) wool before lacquering/clear-coating.

So far, after about 2,500 miles and 5 months (and after a lot of riding in the rain - the pic was taken late December last year), the the finish has held up perfectly everywhere.

It was very cost effective and easy, if time-consuming, to do. The old adage of preparation, preparation, preparation, definitely applies to this.
