Hello i have been offered a 1994 fj1200 abs 3cv engine for a cheep price and wonder if that will fit right on my 86 1tx without modifikations ? and anyone know how heavy the engine is ?

I installed a '91+ (no vin on the case to tell exactly what year) 1200 engine into my '85 1100 this spring. The front mounts are the same. The rear mounts are different. Your '86, like my '85, has a solid UPPER rear mount through bolt and the LOWER rear mounts are rubber mounted. To accommodate the rubber mounts the engine case is machined to accept these rubber bushings. The 91+ 1200 engine rear mounts are rubber mounted UPPER and solid mount LOWER, therefore the engine case is not machined to accept lower mount rubber bushings.

On my install, I reused the solid upper rear mount bolt. For the lower rear mounts, I obviously couldn't use the rubber bushings so I used qty 2, Ø7/16 x 5" lg high strength bolts (one per engine side) and spacer washers between the engine case and frame. In summary, all the rear engine mounts are solid mounted.

I have not experienced any increase in engine vibration. All is well.

Hope this helps,

Rob

oh... and in my experience, the engine is "two persons required" heavy.

I just recently installed an 89 3cv motor into my 84 FJ. the mounts for the 3 CV are the same as the 84. they changed on the 3XY. The motor is heavy. as stated above it is a 2 person lift. I cant give you an exact weight, but easy to say it is in the region of 50kg +

Technically you're right Mark, it is over 50kg, by about another 40kg! - with starter / alternator / wet.
