Rough weekend on 507

Highway 507 is one of the few good motorcycle roads in Ontario; I suspect most of us in the area have been on it.

The OPP's investigation found one of the riders in a group of 11 northbound motorcycles crossed over the center line in a curve and collided with two southbound motorcycles, who were part of a group of three.
Soon after that first crash, another northbound motorcyclist hit a car that had stopped at the scene and another northbound motorcyclist went off the roadway and into the ditch. 
One person was also sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

About 80% of the corners & hills on that road are blind with nil runoff.  Much of the "ditch" in the twisty parts usually consists of trees or granite.  The surface is tarmac not asphalt so portions of it can be very rippely and patched erratically.   Plus there's an OPP stn half way along it.  It's one of those roads that is tempting to ride aggressively, but you must temper that and ride to the limits of what the road allows - just like any other road I believe. It's a fun road to ride swiftly.  It may not be as exciting but you'll get home alive.

Some of my videos have featured it. And I'm sure if you ride it a lot it can suck you into going faster and faster every time. I've come across everything from horses to tanker trucks on it.

 Its very sad to hear of the loss of life but on that accident, cagers cant be blamed. There are more then a few great riding roads in Ontario as well, I think this season with the rain and crap riding weather has helped keep the motorcycle mortality rate down compared to last season, its a risky act everytime we swing a leg over our bikes. I am not sure what they were riding but I know some of those hogs and cruzers cant lean to far over before they scrape something, maybe that had something to do with that accident, I was riding the other day in a very scenic area and I took my eyes off the road for two seconds and when I looked in front of me I was heading for the soft shoulder and had to correct really fast then I cursed myself for enjoying a view as I almost went down. (still learning the world of street riding)
Also notice the age of the men, between 40 to 50, seems to be the golden age for motocycle mortality in men.
