A truely rare FJ

I noticed the Kat resemblance right away. I have Always liked Bimota's too. Iliked Kats because they were so bizarre. But I think that is the ugliest bimota I've seen.

Yep now That's a beautiful bike. The other one looks like someone took a yb5 and grafted Kat plastics onto it. And gave it a custom paint job.

The original Hans Muth design was an amazing brutalist interpretation of the then-current superbike ethos. There was nothing else like 'em, simple and scary-looking, a wonderful East-Meets-West amalgam. When I was waiting tables to buy my first bike (a TS185) the cook rode a Katana 1000. I had the TS185 all picked out and couldn't wait to scrape together enough tips to make it mine, but I wanted the big Katana so bad I could feel it in my eyeballs. The original Katana 550 and 1000 were the kinds of things that could only come about from a team made up of a German designer and Japanese production, "the guys who wore white socks with black dress shoes" showing "folks who eat green-tea-flavored ice cream, served with red beans on top" what the finished product should look like.

That said, this FJ is kind of a cool / weird mix between Bimota and Katana and something else I can't quite name. I don't know if I *like* it or not, I think that depends on my mood. But I definitely *appreciate* it.

I will admit, however, that I was initially (albeit briefly) taken with the look of the Katana. Mostly because it was different and blatantly left-of-center. I'm a leftist...

I love it! would prefer different paint but there are so many opposites in this bike. The Italian frame is spectacular, (don't forget that cool looking swingarm!) but the homage to Japanese design in the Katana look front end, single seat and foot pegs reminiscent of a track bike and the low position of the mirrors (did someone say cafe racer?)

Def not for everyone and unfortunately its not showing any of its own design ideas...but who cares....its a cool interpretation of what the maker loves about all these different inspiration styles...

I think all it needs is a windscreen, or a Paso-esque bit of bodywork extending above the headlight to act as a windscreen. It needs something to kind of mirror the bottom part of the fairing, to add some sort of balance.

My photoshop / MS Paint skills are weak, or I'd mess with the photo.

I think I'd have to agree with you on the styling. It looks a bit incomplete to me as it is. Adding a chin cowl and even a moderate windscreen would do wonders for it.

People have said that about the Hayabusa.....though it didn't stop me from buying one.
