Cruising ebay just for something to do and ran across a used set of kerker slip-ons: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/292048465393

They looked more or less correct for original kerker fj cans, price wasnt really bad and my 89 has the wrong year muffs on it already and ive also repaired and filled one rust spot with metal fill. I figured "why not?" so i grabbed 'em:

The rest of that system is just stock fj so nothing special there. But it will make decent spares.

They're not perfect by any means:

But theres lots to work with there. The cans aren't roadrashed so thats a big plus. Everything else i can work around. I'll tig that one rub hole shut and the rest is fairly easy clean up work.

I might consider running thise header pipes over the buffing wheel and see what i get. Theyre just going to. E spares, so i can afford to play with them and if i ruin them.....meh, no loss.

Should come out pretty nice.

Im a big fan of the way my oem muffs soind,  ut i cant deny theyre on borrowed time. A set of aluminum slipons is a reasonable solution. Plus, the kerkers are still a "period correct" add on for my fj. Actually, I think I still have the kerker vs supertrapp poster in my collection somewhere....
