Hello FJ owners!  I recently purchased a 1990 FJ1200 and love it!  Upon doing some research on parts availability I have become aware of how hard it is to find replacement lenses for the front of my motorcycle.  I was wondering what others are doing to find these parts and if anyone has come up with a work around if lenses can no longer be found?

Hey Jeff, the '89 FJ shared the same front turn signal lense with your '90.

A popular mod is buying the aftermarket clear lenses from Europe and using a yellow LED bulb.
Check the German eBay under FJ1200 they come up for sale from time to time.

Aviation Fred had a set of these clear turn signal lenses on his '89 FJ and IMO they looked bitchen.

Perhaps Fred will chime in with a link for you, he is the master at finding these goodies.

Lastly, hoped you don't mind, I moved this topic out of the General Discussion category and put it over here in the Parts Wanted section. This will give you better exposure. Perhaps someone has a oem set of yellow lenses for you.....but I really like the look of the clear lenses.

Cheers laddie.  Pat

Thanks for your reply Pat!  Those clear lenses look great!  I would definitely like to find a set for mine.  If someone has a link to where they may be found I would sure appreciate it.  I will check out eBay again but have yet to find them.  I am guessing used will be the most likely route I'll find.

I have found a couple of lenses from two UK sights that claim to be for a couple of years (88-89, 90).  I ordered a right and left lens.  I definitely am not sure that either will fit a 90 since the pictures did not match what they advertised and 88 & 89 don't look interchangeable.  They assured me they would fit.  I will see.

In the states the '89/'90 are the same, and '91 to '93 are the same. The 2 generations do not interchange.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

For the 1988-1990 3CV turn signal lenses. The part numbers of what is needed is #3 and #8 in the diagram. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/1989/FJ1200W/TURNSIGNAL/parts.html

The above 1TX numbers are for the 1986/1987 models only. They will not work.

Thanks Fred but I found the link didn't take me there.  I received a lens I ordered from the UK and it will not fit.  Even though they assured me it would.  I did find a couple of old lenses that came with blinker buckets.  They were $75 for both units and that is the best I found.  Bought them.  I still would like to get a pair of those clear lenses.

Here is a pic of the lens I received from the UK that they assured me would fit and does not.  I will be happy to sell the new lens for $10 and the price of shipping.  I think it is a 91+ lens but I can't be sure.   PM me if you want it.  I have found another set of turn signal lenses here in the US for my 90 FJ for $30  and I should be good for now.

The picture shows my 1990 lens on top and the new lens I purchased and am selling below it.
