First 2up ride in a long time...

It's been quite a long time (3+ years) since I've had a passenger for any sort of distance.  Just so happens I have an old friend who loves bikes.  So.. why not take her for a spin on the FJ??  She's even got her own gear.   

One small issue is she lives about 110 miles south of me.  Normally it's not a problem, but this last Saturday there were college football games in Corvallis and Eugene..so traffic on the slab was nuts.

I'd have to say this one is one of my favorites.





I had the spot tracker with me.  We took the long way around to a friend of her's house for a short visit.  I kept the ride there rather docile to be on the safe side.  Although the ride back was a bit more spirited at her request.  Best passenger I've ever had so making things more interesting wasn't a problem.

Mr. Bean, Good for You! If you are someone that enjoys having a passenger along to share the ride and if she is a good passenger (I'm not) and enjoys riding, then you truly have a find! I'm one that has to be in charge and ride my own FJ and trust me Jeff (my SO) won't get on it with me. Course I won't get on his Interceptor either.

what are you running for a rear tire now? still the pp.

I am getting close to changing tires and the 2up kills the pilot powers. starting to flatspot.

or maybe just not enough corners with a pasenger.

Hey Mark,

I currently have a Pilot Road 2 on the back and a PP on the front.  I'm quite happy with the setup and since the center of the PR2 is harder it's holding up quite well.

When I had the PR2 installed the owner of the Cyclegear I got the tire at was surprised to see how evenly worn the old PP was for being on a FJ.  Talking with him further he said it's quite popular to run a sticky tire up front and a more of a touring/sport touring tire in the back.

So if you're ready for a change give the PR2 a shot. Very similar profile to the PP, and you should get more miles out of the center before it squares off.

the PR2 has the exact same rubber compound on the sides as the pilot power..... only the hard rubber in the center is different....  i love'em.

-Front Pilot Power

-Rear Pilot Road (old pilot road, not the new pilot road 2's)

The Pilot Road 2's are much more adhesive than the old style pilot road we are running on the rear.

The (old style) pilot road does fine on the rear with smooth input and dry pavement, but it has stepped out on me 3 times... all 3 times I was exiting a corner, under power and hit water running across the road.

I consider this rider error (my fault) , and I will continue to run the old road on the rear "MILEAGE PENDING"

If I get less than 4,000 miles out of it I'm going back to (at least) a PR2 on the rear. I love the pilot power on the front.. it never cups

Remember who you're talking to. All I can say is go ask Frank what I'm running. But yes we are running the same setup. Granted I don't ride as hard and quick as you do so they have been fine for me.

I wish I could talk Jeff into getting them for his bike, but he has a 16" wheel on the back so until someone that rides one of those bikes figures out how to put a 17" on it, he's stuck with whatever he can get.

I've got 4,300 miles and not quite into the wear bars yet! I will end up with 4,500+ miles! Thats a new record!
