Fixed my Pipe-Rattles and Exhaust leaks

Since re-fitting my factory exhaust back on the bike, I have noticed a few more rattles under the bike.
I also could hear a couple new exhaust leaks when first starting it up cold.

I acquired the proper new sleeve-gaskets.

I got to work removing the whole exhaust system back off the bike again, and removing the factory gaskets.
These were the original Yamaha ones from 1990, and were deformed to the point where they just wouldn't seal properly anymore. They were also a slight challenge to remove.
It appears they were made out of some sort of fiber material, jacketed in copper. (asbestos maybe?  :unknown:) I wore rubber gloves, and was careful not to breathe any just in case.

The new gaskets slid right in with ease. A couple light taps with a rubber mallet on a small wood block seated them perfectly.

Re-assembled the exhaust system back on the FJ, and snugged everything back in place.

Fired her up, and no more leaks.............and no more exhaust rattles!  :good2:

Now if I could just do something about that fairing....................... :dash1:

Congrats on your pipe rattle.  The dreaded fairing rattle is a lovely one and one that I am unsure can be "fixed".  I stuff a scarf between the shield and gauge surround and seems to quieten things down a bit.

Great job!
