Through the grape vine in the (cough, cough) GTA - this is the last week for Ontario Cycle Salvage, located in Scarborough. Easy to find on Google.
Stuff has to go. The news might prompt a last check to see what parts they have for your projects. It was noted to check ahead on their business hours for the duration.

Thanks for the notice.  They're about 15 min from my place.  Haven't been there in a while.  I'll check it out this w/e.  Maybe I can pick up some GSXR rear wheel/brake parts for that mod.

Hmmmm.... what else should I look out for...?  :mail1:

Anyone know if there is a rear shock that could be a straight swap - or as close as possible?

What about a front end swap?  What would be the simplest one to do?

I need to do as little cutting and pasting as possible.

What am I saying?  I need a new roof on the house!  :cray:

I went here today to check out what was left and there was still plenty.  His closing date is indeterminate until he sells off his stock.  He could be open for another month,  but he has a guy coming from the states every week picking up truckloads of stuff.  Next up - several hundred sets of carbs. I picked up a set of blue dot calipers - which I will post in the mods section as I have a few questions about them.

He had a set of the L&R aluminim foot peg bracket mounts for a '93 for $20 each.  I don't need them, but still might grab them - unless anyone else needs a set I can buy them and ship them out for cost.

Talked to him as to why he was closing also.  He is paying $30,000 in property taxes and another $7,000 in utilities per year.  Basically being taxed out of business.  The silver lining : He owns the building & lot so he's selling it off to condo developers for his retirement fund.  He said he was adamant about that when he first started the business cuz he new you couldn't retire on selling bike scrap.

Good to know. I have the wife flying to Toronto on the 29th. Any idea if they would have rear racks or saddle mounts for 1990 FJ1200? Trying to keep my spending down with the wife watching!LOL

Anything specific?  FJ specific racks aren't that plentiful.  Are you willing to chop & cut to fit?  I'd be able to drop by during the week to ask.  If you can provide any more info the better.

I bought an old Krauser set a few years ago which required some minimal bracket work to fit.  Not as pretty as a Givi set, but functional

I am not picky about looks as much as strength and price. Just want to be able to put enough gear for about a week long trip. Looks will be for when I retire!LOL Hopefully my bike shows up as the attachement.

Hey Grumpy. Do you have a top plate and or case already? Just wondering what you are starting with, because I jury rigged a bracket to hold my Givi Monolock plate, holding my small top case. I put out $30 at Home Depot for the bits. It held up well enough for 5500 km including a lot of good wallops on rough roads. I took it off once I got home a week later but I could have kept using it.
The difference is I have a 1984 and my grip bar wraps from side to side and I used it as my forward mounting point directly under the plate. Also traveling solo so the placement wasn't critical for comfort.

I would like the proper Givi bracket setup but the bike is bleeding my wallet this summer as it is and I prefer my nylon saddlebags. The top case was just for the longer away from home trip to get more dry capacity.
