Fork Oil Question

New to me forks. Late model, unsure if ABS. Overall, very good condition.

Drained oil, found progressive springs with PVC spacer. (Aftermarket, I'm certain) No further disassembly.

No valves present.

Washed, drained and dried.

Fork seals don't appear to leak, as they both appeared to be full. No apparent play (bushings)

Going on a late-model FJ. Mostly Florida terrain, ~250 Lbs, rider & gear.

What weight oil to refill with? Simply Yamaha recommended? Do the aftermarket, progressive-spring people have any funky requirements for their products?

Steve
I have used 10-30 and GM ATF both with good results.

I am going to say.... Using progressive springs should not require a change in recommended viscosity. With not installing any fork emulator valves, I would recommend using the Yamaha spec for fork oil weight.

I put 10 weight maxima in mine, I'm 250lbs and and it cured all of my problems, forks and springs are still stock.

Thank you for the responses. Two sets of forks now rebuilt, one with RPM valves, the other being the ones referenced in this thread.

Does it matter which end goes up on the progressive springs?
