I had an issue with my bike not wanting to start today and did not hear the new fuel pump running. I cycled the key a few times and heard the pump click then the bike would start. At this point I'm thinking this fuel pump has 300 miles on it, no way its bad already so I grabbed the old fuel pump, plugged it in and it fired right up too. I'm beginning to think I have an intermittent problem with the power to this pump. Is there any known issues with the circuit to the pump say like ground or what have you that some one could guide me in the right direction? If the relays are just prone to failure then I will try to get one of those or figure out how to bypass it all together. Any help would be most appreciated as I have a ride planned with an ill friend whom would like to get some seat time in before he gets to weak to ride.

If you bought a Chineese pump off FleaBay, I can tell you where your problem is....

I put a Chineese "lifetime guarantee " pump on a '93 I rebuilt only to have it crap out 3 months later at the top on Sonora Pass at the Sierra WCR. We took the pump apart at the rally camp in Coleville and found that the points were all goofy and misaligned.

Randy to the rescue! His son, Robert brought a new pump up to Coleville and I can tell you straight up, the difference in the quality between RPM's pump and that POS FleaBay China pump is night and day.
Only when you compare them side by side do you notice it.

Lesson learned. Buy a quality pump.....I'm not saying buy an oem pump, the price is ridiculous.

Ya I'm gonna have to suck it up and get the $100.00 pump if I wanna ride this thing instead of push it huh. Might be the best piece of mind I ever payed money for.

Also check your kill-switch. The contacts could be dirty causing intermittent issues.
This will shut the fuel pump off also.
