Returned home after the WCR, 640miles 10.5 hours uneventful, all good. Next day FJ unresponsive dead battery. FJ did bring me home had a great time on I-5, 85 to a ton, excellent all tucked in on the tank bag.
Replaced battery with a sealed unit all good again. Tested on Hwy 74 this Sunday all good except an instance of braking chatter on the return to Palm Desert. Cleared up later.
Could be tires or maybe brakes need to be at temperature not quite sure. Re-clearcoated front cowling and made needed repairs to mouse knawed wiring left side.(finally)
I'm going with a new B'stone front tire to see if thats the chatter problem later this month.

Glad to see you made it home alright.  It was fun riding with you.
I think the new rubber will cure your chatter, your tire looked pretty wasted.
Getting my new front tire tmrw.  Regreasing  bearings and speedo drive now.
Hasta la vista
Mike

Sudden battery failure is common for the FJ. Get a volt meter and check your charging voltage at 2500 rpm. should be mid 14's volts , if you are over that the bat is gonna cook and fail after long rides .
There is a connector that likes to melt between alt and bat on clutch side near battery case. from the outside it will look ok , but take it apart to inspect the 2 wire connector . Sometimes just fixing this connection stops the overcharge. A lot of us have installed aftermarket regulators because of the overcharge problem inherent to all FJ's.

It was great meeting you at the rally ... good times.  :good2:
