Cash,

LOVE this integration!!!  I'd like to talk to you more about that setup at the WCR!

I was part of a consumer advisory council around 2008 for "Company X" that wanted feedback on a potential electric car they were planning.  I think I was part of it because I have a Honda Insight that I've cracked 90 MPG on a tank.  They asked all sorts of questions getting into every feature, usability and expectations out of the car.  When it came to "the dash"...gauges, entertainment, climate controls, trip computers, navigation and the like, I said, "Just give me an iPhone mount."  The rest of the people in the room looked at me like i was a nut.

6 k RPM is the start of the kick ass power of the FJ, shifting in that range of proformance the rev limiter will tell you to shift if you're that much in a hurry.Personally I don't look at the tach at those moments I'm too busy looking down the road, anyothertime a tach is not needed. That's my philosophy on that.

Cleanest answer is a self-contained shift light like the Harlan or raptor shift light.  Nice bright light in your face when it's time to shift without taking your eyes off the road and no worries about revving higher than you want (or having the rev limiter slow your progress!)

Seat of my pants when to shift.
No light,no digital display,no heads up in my helmet, just when I want to.
Generally much less than rev limiter.
But good thought anyway for the proformance guys on this blog.
