fairing removal

I know it is here somewhere here but I can,t find it. I have a 1986. Thanks guys. Big R

You have two options for fairing removal. Removal of just the plastic or the plastic with the sub-frame. The lower black fairing protectors hide a fastener for the side scoops. The rest is look and remove as you go. To remove just the plastic you will need to use a socket extension and remove the bolts on either side of the headlamp. A bit of a pain but that is how i do it. Make sure you have the bolts in hand before pulling the fairing off. Or you may end up learning to plastic weld like me to fix the damage. The other option is remove the 4 bolts holding the sub-frame. This was my choice before I added HID and all the bits for it that got connected to the sub-frame. Either way you will need to remove the windscreen to get to some of the fasteners.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Wow.., they really made it difficult for the 1200..

On the 1100, it is 6 easy access bolts and it just lifts of (not that it helps the OP much..., sorry).
