.... A very close call !!

....... First, I was hastened to post this, not knowing the condition of all involved.

.. On a Saturday night, I went to a place, we call.... THE LOT... on a average there is about 75 to 150  bikes.... I have been going there, off and on, for about 6 to 7 years. So, there has been a lot of new faces.
.. This Sat. night, I did not recognize anyone, So, I started a conversation with a few of the guys,... they said, they were going to Ybor City. that is in Tampa about 20 to 30 miles away...... I ask, if I could tag along. They said yes.....there was about 7 in the group.

..... We left the lot, going east on HWY 60 to Bayside Bridge, I was second in line. as soon as I got on the bridge I went to the left lane, [no traffic ] at that time, a CBR, with a girl, on the back with next to nothing on went by, then a Busa, also with a girl on the back with very little on, went by, then a R1 went by, doing about 160............. I said to myself, are they that fast, or am I that slow.

... They were about fifty yards ahead, then I saw a big cloud of smoke, I got on the brakes, they lock-up..... I had to release them.
.. I thought for sure, I was going to hit a bike, rider or debris, ....... I could not see a thing, I was covered with oil.
... I made it thur, I saw the guy on the CBR, on the side of the road, I pulled over, he ask, what happen and I said, I think the R1 ran in the back of the Busa...... That's what happen, The Busa, slowed down to about 75....and with out touching the brakes, [no brake lights] and the R1 hit him.
...... The Medical Helicopter was called in.....

.. I talk to the guy, with the CBR, last night at Ybor,  He said, when the guy on the R1 hit the Busa, he hit the girl in the.. back.. with his head, even with one of the better helmets, his head, started to swell........ He spent three months in the hospital.
... The girl had broken ribs and she had about 60% road rash.
........ The driver, of the Busa [ with all his gear on] was not hurt that bad.

And after, I made it Thur, there was a GSXR 1000 and a 600 Kaw, that hit some debris and went down, but they were OK.
...... I did not sleep or look at my bike for a week !!!

red flags:  out on a saturday night; out on a saturday night with young riders; out on a saturday night with young riders with passengers; out on a saturday night with young riders with passengers on bikes they likely don't know how to ride to 50% of the bike's performance; out on a saturday night with young riders with passengers on bikes they likely don't know how to ride to 50% of the bike's performance with improper equipment.

i put myself in a similar event once, but i rode in the very back, thinking i wanted every one of those jokers in front of me.  glad you didn't get hurt.  ( :

.. I drive a big truck [18 wheeler] for a living,.... You would not believe the times I see a sport bike with a girl on the back, with a small pair of shorts and a T-shirt on.... and the driver is all dect-out with all the riding gear.
