SS Brake line question?

I own a new to me 1990 FJ1200 that has SS brake lines. My question is: Were SS brake lines available as an option when new or did the previous owner install these on my bike? Thanks for any input!

The braided lines are after market, not an option on the FJ.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.
