What's going on?

Twice now I have noticed a change in how how the forum is working.

Normally I can leave a post in progress on the computer for any length of time, well beyond session expiry time, all day sometimes and it remains there until I try and post it.
At which point I normally "copy" it, log out and in again to refresh my session, then post it.

What appears to happen now is, if you don't post it within the session time the draft disappears.

I know this will disappoint a lot of you, but I've lost two posts in two days to this occurrence.

Noel,

I do not know that answer to you inquiry. I have never been able to store a post that I was writing if I left the page. If the post takes some time for me to write then I always write in on a Word document and then paste it into the field when I am done.

I have lost a few detailed & technical posts over the years...that only happened a couple of times.

Maybe your computer was able to cache the page and that allowed you to keep the posts.

Now, with that said there was a software package update that happened just before I took over the forum from Marsh. there could be something in the software package that is different that changed those settings.

That could be it Randy.

I'll do a test tomorrow and see what happens. I have always been able to leave a post in progress on the computer all day, wake the computer up and it would be there just as I left it.

I also write them in Word in I know I won't get it finished, but sometimes I am forced to leave an unfinished post on the forum page and it stays there.

For what it's worth I have lost a LOT of posts I was working on -- I learned a few years ago to type up a draft in word or note pad or notes and then paste it in.

If you go to post and it's timed out, hit the back arrow and it will take you back to the page. Then you can copy it, log in again and repost it.
No need to lose it just over an expired session, it's still there.
