My FJ won't start when the kill switch is on.
I tried the starter- no go
I tried pushing it (well my mate pushed it)- no go
I checked the sidestand wire- no go
I tried to push start it again- still no go
I phoned the RACQ roadside assistance and my mate said "what does that red switch do?".............
I turned off the kill switch and it started first go.

He needed the exercise anyway!!
I've often been asked, 'What do you old folks do now that you're retired'?

"Well. I'm fortunate to have a chemical engineering background, and one of the things I enjoy most is turning beer, wine, Scotch, and margaritas into urine."

 Waricle,
  Oh, bastard.
Been doin' some of that chemical engineering again? Lucky you didn't bring it in for repair, it probably still wouldn't crank even with a new starter and battery if'n that switch is off ! That's even better than me rolling it off the center stand while idling in first. No, it didn't stall, good thing I had the clutch lever in hand.

Don't feel bad mate.. shit happens..  hopefully you learned from the experience..who you can count on to push your bike.  :D

If you want something worse.. My friends Shadow will still turn over when the kill switch is turned on.    :dash2:  Must be a Honda thing...

chuckles.......its like leaving the allen key in the rear axle of my gpz and riding off hearing a bang!!! tink tink tink and watching the allen key bounce off in the distance..... like bump starting a kwaka with the throttle jammed open...... but the best i have seen is my old man undoing the front fork caps on his katana on the top of a sloping driveway with the front wheel on the ground... i actually caught it and held t upright.... but i think the best ive done is sat there and with the rocker cover off one day i thought ... hmmm.... how strong are my valve springs? i pushed down on it with my fingers.... hmmm ok.... did it all back up went for a ride.... 50 k's later it was like i had dropped spark plug lead.... rode it home to discover the valve i pushed on had dislodged its collets loosened the lock nut and wound the adjustment screw out and the valve stem was mounted IN the cam follower and had removed abou 2 mm off the valve and driven it up into the head..... seat was ok.... no damage to the head.... but .........      chuckles.... its all a learning curve isnt it?????

Or.... the time I topped up the oil on my ol' GS550 at the filling station forecourt, leaving the filler cap nestling snugly on top of the crankcase as I rode off. Noticing a little while later on the motorway that my foot was slipping off the pegs, and glancing down to see what's wrong revealed oil spraying out of the hole where the cap should have been. Stopped and found the cap safe and sound but it had damn near emptied the motor. Got off next exit and went home, very slowly. And y'know what? That engine didn't notice that it wasn't meant to be run without oil. Incredible, and backs up all those tales of it's almost indestructibility... mine went to 138,000 before I offloaded it with total electrical demise.

When I got home from the 07 fall rally I had a phone message from a friend asking if I had the magnet from his 'one man brake bleeder'. We had bled the brakes at both ends of my bike prior to the rally using the tool.

I told him no, and that I left it wrapped in a towel on his workbench.

2 weeks later I pulled the rear wheel and found the magnet still stuck to the rotor...
