Heyh guys and girls, I'm a 30-year old dude from Finland who is just in the process of getting motorcycle license. Me and my stepdad, who is an avid motorist, had a bright idea last autumn to purchase a bike. We started browsing the markets and found a FJ 1200 with good bang for the buck. Paid just over 1000€ for a -89 FJ 1200 which has been imported from the US to Finland in -91. It has around 55k miles on the meter, but needed some major work on the body. The previous started to strip it naked with brute force so all the front clips which hold the plastics in place are gone. We decided to stay on the naked-course and kept working on it. Some cleaning up, full paintjob and a lot of tuneup later it's starting to shape up. It's still missing a lot of finishing touches and blinkers and such, but we still have plenty of time before the season starts here in Finland, roughly two months or so. I also need to finish up my license so I can actually ride the bike.  :nyam1:

Anyway, these forums seem to have a lot of useful resources for me so I'll be sure to keep visiting these regularly.

I really like the blue paint scheme you chose.   :good:  Is that a Yamaha OEM colour or something you picked out from an automotive paint supplier?  I have been thinking a long time about a blue like that.  Something like the Yamaha Galuoise Team colour, or the blue Subaru WRX sti.  Yours seems much more vivid though.

Everyone who read that just let out a collective wince.

Thanks! It's a self-made mix, we used Mercedes Silver Arrow as the silver layer below and then mixed some of that with Volvo Ocean Blue and some pearlescent stuff. It's kinda close to the Yamaha Galuoise Team but has a lot more "oomph" on it. We have a friend who owns an auto paint shop so we just barged in and asked if we can get and mix some stuff to get something unique. It looks really good when sunlight hits it. I'll provide more pictures when we get new wheels, paint the rims and get all the wirings hidden. We also got the seat fitted with new blue leather with a silver stripe on the middle.

If you don't mind..... do you remember the mixing ratio for your paint blend?  If it's top secret, I understand  :cray:

I'll ask my stepdad if he remembers exactly what were the exact stuffs we used and what were the ratios. I'll get back to you.

Here's one more pic from the front which shows the paint in different angles of light on a cloudy day.
