Hi all,

I have put a wanted ad up but thought someone may be able to help with a work around:

1984 FJ1100 - part needed 36Y-22151-01-00 SEAL, GUARD.

I was told at a pre roadworthy inspection that the chain rub guard that mounts to the swing arm is broken and must be replaced before it will be signed off.

Does anyone know of a supplier for this part or an alternative?

I know its a long shot but I have run out of leads.....some parts for this bike are very hard to find.

Thanks in advance for any help

Cheers

Tony

I see that part fits on the fj1100 and first fj1200 but is not available.
The next model along(3cv) lists that part as being available but would not be a straight fit as it mounts differently.
It looks like you would have to drill and tap or put two rivnuts(nutserts) into the swing arm to attach it, but it might be a possibility.

I check the American parts fiche's on the web and if they have a price attached, if they do it means they are available(with the stuff I've chased
so far anyway!).

Cheers Ian.

Just because they list a price does not mean it is in stock. Many experiences have been shared here that they ordered a part, then its listed as back order, weeks to months later you get credited for the cost and you still need the part. Confirm that they physically have the part when they are no longer in production like this one. Have you checked with Randy at RPM? He is a Yamaha dealer and clever at finding parts.

There's got to be other makes and models of bikes that have them, and as Ian has stated, they can possibly be adapted on the FJ1100 and early FJ1200s.

Take a look at this one BUFFER, CHAIN DEFENSE it looks like it is adaptable with the FJ swinging arm, with the addition of the aforementioned Rivnuts.

Hi Randy at RPM sells the 1200 version, but as mentioned above, you will need to tap some screws to hold it in place. I see that you are in Australia too. Randy is really good with international posts. I usually have items from him in 7 - 10 days. just remember to add 30% for our crappy exchange rate. Another place you might get them from is Trooper Lu's in Sydney. Worth giving them a call.

Any Yam dealer in Australia can get them overnight for around $86 .
Thats about the average price each of the  3 local dealers near me could get them for..

Thanks Ian,

I appreciate you looking it up for me, most of the sites seem to have it listed as no longer available unfortunately.

I will keep looking!
