Wow, snow on the East Coast, eh?  Bummer!!!  It was ~75ºF on Monday, not a cloud in the sky in SoCal.  The wife & I took a spin along the Santa Monica Mountains, went to Zuma Beach (home of BayWatch ;-0) for a spot 'o lunch, took a spin past the RockStore and the ***[yamahafj] Now THAT'S Gonna Leave A Mark*** corner of 'THE SNAKE' , and ended up with a nice ~90 mi day.  And it was rather green out today, Frank ;-).  Sorry folks, no pix.  The cameras ended up at home today.

Best to all, spring is coming!!!

The Snake <http://tinyurl.com/yhvujp3>  I don't know what Dilbert came up with that name, it's just a nice stretch of twisty road to ride, and has been for the 35 yrs I've ridden it!

ED,

I have never been on "THE SNAKE" one of these weekends we have to get together and go ride it.

Mike, If you've been to the Rock Store, you've already been there.  The road just above  RS, up to Kanan Rd; is 'The Snake'.  We went thru there around 1:45 this afternoon (ex low volume!) and there was some clown with a HUGE Zoom & a mega flash taking pix, probably for sale.  Get a LIFE!

Again, a GREAT day for a ride, and we had a nice lunch @ Free Zuma, and the bikini's were out, as well as a ~21 yo female surfer trying to extricate herself from a wet suit.  Talk about right place/right time!  Even the wife made that comment, some about just gettin' lucky.  Maybe she meant I wasn't gettin' lucky.

I have not been to the Rock store yet, but each summer I tell myself I going to get there.

I have taken PCH from Santa Monica to Oxnard and the views are wonderful and not just the ocean...

hey we got a snake over here on the east coast too

US 421 - The Snake (west of Mountain City)

the fan

Frank that's not a snake. Everyone knows snakes don't grow on trees. :rofl2:

BTW took the dirty bike out yesterday and today for a little fun in the 12"+ of snow and ice. The combination of loose powder over a slushy base made for a great ride.

Ed, both you and Bill have embarrassed me into admitting that I haven't even turned the key in 3 weeks.

Gonna have to do something about that before the nice weather is gone...

God, I love that road (421)...

Frank-

Nice road BTW...  Anyhoo, I watched/ listened to you vid.  Nice work.  Was this taken as a more recent incarnation of Brutus I wonder?  The engine sounds tight in a familiar FJ kind of way, but I was struck but the sound of the closed to open transitions -they sound abrupt to me.  It almost sounded like fuel injection abruptness.  I wonder if that's just the sound, and the feel is more smooth, or if you're just that good, because you are a MUCH faster/ smoother rider than me.

I wonder whether the same sound recorded from a bike with a perfectly setup carb, like David R's maybe, would sound the same, or smoother in those transitions.  This question assumes your carb is not, and that may well not be the case.

Just curious.
