Looks like a great forum. I wished that I found it earlier. I just missed the Fall Rally as I was riding through the area about that time on my recent acquisition, 86 FJ1200 (red/white), from Indiana back home in Jacksonville, Fl. Bought it with 8900 miles on it. I put on new tires and rode it home. Runs great and needs very little work. It makes a good stablemate to my 89 FJ1200 (white/Silver). I love these things. I am trying to keep them as stock as possible. Both had the overcharging issue. They put out 15.5 volts and I boiled the battery out on the 89 on a long ride before I realized there was a problem. I came up with a cheap fix that I have not seen posted. They both charge at 14.5 volts now and the 86 did not use any water on the 3 day ride home. I look forward to browsing the posts and making plans for next year's rally.

Welcome Chris, we have more than just FJs in common. But each has an '86 and an '89. I think Fred sold his '86/'87 so he can't play. I got my '89 in May after an oil leak (on to the rear tire from a cracked case) took my ambulance off the road. Kookaloo
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

'86 Ambulance - Bent frame, cracked case, due for an overhaul
'89 Stormy Blue - Suits my Dark Side

Welcome ! Nice looking bikes. Keep them in good shape the better ones are starting to get harder to find.
