I'm thinking of installing this adjustable voltage regulator in my 86 FJ,  I am not sure about the 3AMP rating though, it does have over current protection...

Anyways wanted to pick your brains and see if anyone can see any problems installing this...

If I can see properly - device from Your link  is not  voltage regulator which regulates voltage in motorbike installation.
If You connect it to electric installation it allows You reduce voltage on output side to some constant value.

If You looking for regulated voltage regulator: http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=661.0

Go with this advice Dan. That "Buck convertor" is intended for supplying accessories that need a reliable and constant voltage other than what is directly available from any source. For example, to have a high power USB charger, or run a laptop or some other device with odd voltage requirements.

The Bosch VR adaptations are tried and proven on many types of motorcycles.
