Hi,,I Went to start my FJ1100 from cold , (normally always starts after about 5 rotations ) ,
It turned over about 3 or 4 times .but did not start  ,
So I let the starter button go   and  then I pressed it again but nothing ,  "ONLY THE OIL LIGHT" comes on when starter is pushed??
Every time I press the starter button the Oil Light comes on,  nothing else happens,
All Lights ,Horn , etc etc are working fine,
Checked fuses ,all good ,,
Battery is strong ,Fully charged,
Turned Kill switch on and off a few time ,but nothing.
Does not have side stand switch or clutch switch,
Any advice as to where to look would be great ,,thank you
regards Phil from Aussie

Did you check the neutral switch?

As far as I remember now the oil light indicates the stopping circuit by side stand switch, clutch switch and neutral Switch is engaged. Are those side stand and clutch switches bridged? If yes, check those.

I had a "No Start" issue a few weeks ago. Checked the voltage, that was good. Flipped the Run/Stop switch a few times, nothing. Then, just for giggles, pushed the run switch down hard and it moved a touch more. It fired up right after that. Time to R&R the switches on my '89.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

@FJmonkey: good to know, one more item to remember. Those switch assys get a little too few maintennance attention anyways, IMO. I just found a broken contact plate responsible for failing headlight.

Wainot just mentioned the oil light to turn on when pressing the starter button; this made me think that the circuit of this button works.

Cheers, Jo

Thank you  All  for  your help.. FOUND the Problem..
It turned out it was the STOP /RUN Switch , it must be faulty,,
I rocked the  switch  back and forward 5 or 6 times ,while turning the Key off and on ,
and while pushing the starter and all of a sudden ,it wound over,
I then started the bike and let it run for a while,
It is now starting as soon as you push the button, 1st time ,every time,,
It working 100% again,
I am thinking that the STOP / RUN  rocker switch is  breaking down and is not
switching over as it should,,
So its all good ,,thanks again  regards Phil  (wainot)
