hey guys how Hayball you been I have not been on here in a while  :hi: how have all y'all been. So after you guys help me get my bike running with the kickstand switch problem, I was riding my bike about a month later and I started having backfire problems. Before I started writing I cleaned my carbs real well twice in fact, I just did my floats so my bike wasn't pissing gas anymore, change the oil and filter, got a new battery, and just an all-around clean up. Any ideas why this might be happening also my alternator seems to be bad as well because when I ride my headlights are really dim and after it dies I cant start it back up. so for the first month and a half it was writing good no problems no backfire no more gas leak then Bam  :dash2: it hit me like a brick wall. Also if anybody has a picture of what the wiring underneath the tank is supposed to look like I would love that because mine is a nightmare. Thanks again guys
Just bought my first motorcycle which is an 90 FJ 1200 and I plan on rebuilding it and riding it like a beast!!

Here's my recommendation: Buy a new (used) harness and start over.

Take your pick:

Josh, that is a seriously fucked up mess.

Your backfire problems could be still carb related or a new electrical gremlin. Considering your side stand ordeal and the above picture, my bet's on electrical.

Is that your throttle cable splitter box over in the upper right?

Is there anyone close by Josh who can help this lad?

That is a "Dog's Breakfast"... but your issue just started right?

Is the backfire a loud bang in the exhaust?
Or is it an explosion back through the carbs?
Or a spitting back through the carbs?

The picture didn't load all the way for me, but from what I saw I agree with Pat about the fucked up mess.  :-(
