Hi

As most of you may know, I an doing the GSXR rear conversion on my FJ11. I thought I was getting a 96 rear (straight spoke) how ever when it arrived it was from an earlier model (swept spoke - still 17x5.5") This is not really an issue for me as it will now match the 89 FJ front. However it did not come with a calliper or carrier. I am purchasing a new carrier from a local shop. So my question is...... Does anyone know if the later model brakes  are interchangeable?

Well Mark...My understanding is that the calipers were used on a variety of different models, so finding one to fit shouldn't be too hard, but the hangers themselfs changed between early and later models so you have to get one to suit the wheel.

Seeing that the wheel has the bent spoke pattern, I'd be looking for a hanger to suit the 90/92 models because the later ones must be different. Ive read here where someone bought 3 different hangers before he finally got the right one.

The wheel I bought was from an 89 model so I bought a caliper with hanger from an 89 model so I knew for sure that it would fit, same as the torque arm, their probably all the same, but I bought one to suit that model for the same reason.

For the spacers, I checked what was needed on the Mick Hone Suzuki website and bought them from there, cheaper than getting them overseas. Don't forget, you'll need a new sprocket as well because the standard Suzuki one is too big.

Thanks Bones.

The hanger I am getting is from a 92, and spacers as well....I was going to get some machined up so I didn't have to put the extra spacers in, but decided against it. I looked on a Suzuki site and even though some of the internal bits changed the actual case for the calliper looks unchanged.
I have ordered a 40t sprocket to fit.

I decided to risk it and have bought, through eBay, a 96 rear calliper.
