We all drive and ride with the expectation that others sharing the road are sane, sober, and competant.
No matter how often we profess to take heed of the warnings;
Look at every other road user and try to figure out what the stupidest thing they could do is, and
You should always ride as if everyone is intentionally out to get you.

Here are some bad examples to ponder. (go past the headline hijack clip and view the others)

 A couple from Ottawa riding on there harley just killed themselves riding in NewYork, It was 10am when they slammed into the back of a vehicle waiting to make a left turn, early to judge but it looks like the rider made a critical error and paid with his and his wifes life. Terrible news. Be aware of target fixation and for god sakes look far ahead.

Be safe everyone... expect the unexpected...

Yes, i heard of this accident on the news later in the day after our ride on that road. If we hadnt turned back for home and rode on past Picton we would have come across this accident. Word on the street is that the miata pulled out to pass accelerating right into the bikes. The riders probably didnt know what hit them.
We also sat behind a couple convertibles driven by seniors on the ferry crossing the Bay of Quinte. One was a miata. We were a bit freaked until we learned that the accident had happened a bit earlier.....

The 'County' is a popular tourist destination and the population quadripples during the summer. So the traffic does too.

Renew your awareness and vigilance to ride as safe as you can. It will help determine when our 'time is up'.

I wonder how many times Ive said ' phew! I was just lucky there... the driver only saw me at the last second and hesitated. '

That is a really nifty idea but I don't have absolute faith in technology, not when your life depends on it and there is no second chance.

I would not be prepared to blindly pull out (potentially straight into an oncoming vehicle) with the absolute confidence that the screen wasn't having a moment or frozen - think mobile phone, ipad, GPS etc. it even happens on the most modern passenger aircraft.

I won't even take the word of my passengers when pulling into the traffic and they say "you're right on my side"
