I remember a "sport" sidecar conversion on an FJ many years ago - the arricle was called "Attack of the Sportworm"or something like it.  Or how about a trike conversion for the FJ?!
There are some fantastic examples of FJ sidecars, esp in the UK. Problem with the FJ is chassis strength at the rear end and given the Spyder is way outside your budget, I think you would have to be lucky if someone has spent the money on the right mods and willing to let it go for way below their actual manufacturing costs..
Having said that I`ve seen a number of good outfits go for the same value as the solo machine.
I chose wifey's (it`s not mine apparently!) based on mods. 1. Leading link suspension. 2. Car wheel fitted to rear drive. 3. Reputation of the seller & builder in sidecar construction.
Luck was it is related to the FJ, had a modified motor (1200cc), is shaft driven and has a huge reputation for being bulletproof. Because the 78 XS is 35 years old it hits a risk bracket that means I was able to comprehensively insure it for $10500 (agreed value) for the annual mind blowing cost of only$80.80! (I paid $5800 for it but spent a fair bit on it....bikes will never be dollar profitable imho)...A new Ural here is around $20,000 and they too get the chicks but painfully slow on the highway. The XS performs well above 100 klm/hr and is stable and light to drive at those speeds (and keeps up on FJ outings...when I don`t get lost!). It also has a functioning disc brake on the chair that operates with the rear pedal...yet pulls it up straight. (most outfits can`t do any of that stuff.)....interestingly the xs1100 crank runs reverse to the FJ to accommodate the tail shaft drive and I have purchased an electric lifter for the sidecar seat to assist wifey's exit.  :drinks:

I had something similar.  After going to numerous doctors and taking massive amounts of drugs, I found out I was allergic to a lot of the foods I was eating, it was making me drunk, I couldn't carry on a conversation and had concentration issues.  I had roaring in my ears, ringing in my ears, sensitivity to certain sounds and was about to give up and quit my job.  Thankfully, I found a doctor who tested me for allergies and I found that I was allergic to a massive amount of the foods that I was told to eat (by the doctors) to offset the issues of the drugs they were giving me.

Also, fyi.....there are crystals in the inner ear that float out of their sac.  The procedure to to get them back into the "sac" is not pleasant, but I can tell you it does work.  Don't give up and by all means keep on going until you find a doctor that can fix your problem.  (Hopefully drug free).  I was blessed when I found my doctor after about a year of being told "you are going to have just have to deal with it".  That was not the right answer.  Good Luck....never give up!
