Despite my best attempts at scheduling, I just couldn't pull it together this year to make either the WC or Central Rally's.  As departure time looms, I bid everyone to take care and be safe.

In particular, I would implore everyone to take their time and not be in a hurry.  The past few years were not good ones for me, as I lost a cousin and a good friend in motorcycle accidents.  My cousin was turning (merging) onto a major Highway from a side road, when he was hit by a semi truck.  My friend was attempting a pass on a two lane highway and went head on into an oncoming semi truck.  Sadly, though we may not absolutely know what was going through each individual's thought process before their accidents, most of us have been left with the impressions that they may have been in a hurry to beat the approaching/oncoming vehicles.  I would therefore ask each of you to take that extra bit of time in evaluating whether the way is clear, safe to pass, or even if it is safe to travel at a higher rate of speed for the current conditions as well as if your pushing your own skill/comfort zone.  To be clear, I'm not asking anyone to not enjoy the road at your preferred pace or lean angle.  Only to be cognizant of your surroundings and to not make a rash decision out of haste.  Please take that extra second to evaluate the situation and risk factor.  Above all, enjoy the adventure.

As for me, I'll be heading for Arizona next week.  Though I wanted to do Arizona first, then hit at least one of the rally's on the way home; family obligations meant that I'm not able to get on the road until next week (June 1st).  Also, this year I'll be riding down (as opposed to driving down in previous years), so I'm excited to be taking some interesting roads on the way down, but it also means availability of time becomes an issue.

Ride safe everyone.  :hi:

Good advice Greg. Very timely.

It's ok to ride fast when the conditions warrant, but never, never be in a hurry...never.....ever.

Everyone have a good and safe time at the WCR.

For those making the journey from the WCR to the Black Hills, have a safe and sane ride out and I'll see everyone at the J-Bar Ranch when you get there!   :good2:  If all goes well I'll be arriving in Hill City on Monday (1st) evening.  Need a couple of days to get my riding legs back into shape before you all get there.

The 2015 WCR is here. :yahoo: For all that are attending. Have a safe trip to Coleville, and a safe couple of days riding the Sierra's.

For those that are continuing on the the Black Hills Rally next week. I will see you there.  :drinks:
