Hi My name is Erik from Kenosha, Wisconsin. Got an 84 FJ600 that been sitting for two years, in pieces. Currently trying to get everything rebuild and cleaned so I can have a summer bike. Lots of questions tho. Glad I'm here with all these knowledgable people.

Take it easy and take it slow , Don't rush it back together and make problems for later.

grease all your brgs and flush forks and change seals, Rebuild the carbs for sure and take a compression reading on the engine for a starting point .
Lubricate all cables and clean electrical contacts then coat with dielectric grease . lubricate speedo cable ..

Man that is just a few things in bringing a bike back to life . Have fun.

Welcome Erik ! Glad to have you here. Lots of good help here so jump in an and ask away. Not to many 600's here but there are a few and about everyone here is willing to help if they can. When you get started it helps a lot sometimes if you can post pictures as you go along. And as mentioned take it slow. It can seem overwhelming at times but if you just focus on one step or problem at a time it will be easier. I would start a thread down in the "FJ Project Writeups" Show a picture of what you have and information as you know it. Then develop a plan to move things forward.

P.S. Does summer ever come to Wisconsin or just less snow..

Hi and welcome Erik!  An FJ600 was the first road bike I ever got to pilot solo.  I thought it was just the coolest!  There are a lot of great folks here with gobs of experience they are willing to share, so you couldn't have found a better resource! Good luck and post some pictures when you can...

Welcome to a great site.  I am just across the border from you in Illinois. You will probably be tearing your hair out at some point but once you wheel your baby out to ride it will be all worth it. Dont give up on it as there is a solution to every problem.

Welcome Eric, the FJ600 is an odd duck here but very welcome. Tragically we lost one some months back when it blew holes in the case, I wonder if the parts are sill waiting to be sold. Feel free to enjoy the banter around our digital campfire and make sure you have thick skin. I travel to IL on occasion to visit family, budget prevents that right now but I hope to visit and meet the half dozen FJowners in the state. I guess I need make a rally on the East side, it looks like they know how to have fun as well...

Its finally getting warm enough to start working again. Just have a few questions if anyone knows. 1) If sitting on the bike looking down at the engine what is the cylinder numbering from left to right? 2) one of the bowl float posts broke off when I taking a carb apart. Anyone have another for sale and any hints on how to get the main jet nozzle out? Thanks for the warm welcome and any help.

Cylinder numbers are Left to Right, 1, 2, 3, 4... Not sure if the carbs are the same, but I have some spares....

Thanks for the help! I'm going to get back started this weekend. This #3 carb is causing me problems. Might just bite the bullet and find a rebuilt one on Ebay or something.
