For those that don't know I bought an 18k mile 89FJ in November, having owned an 86 when my wife and I were dating, I call it my nostalgia bike as my wife's FB profile photo is now a picture of when we were riding the 86 bike, she obviously has fond memories of it. The bike was in pretty good shape cosmetically, but had a ton of deferred maintenance and after joining this forum it became obvious that RPM/Randy was the place to go if I needed parts to get it into shape. It got even better when I found out that Randy was just two hours away from where we live in the bay area, so I decided to drop it off with him and have him (and his son Robert) do the work. That was in November and today I picked it up and WOW what a difference, he rebuilt the front/rear ends, plus the carbs and put all the goodies he has that make these bikes great, plus the used upgrades (calipers etc.) and I pretty much did what he told me to do except the 17" rear rim. Needless to say I put more into the bike than its worth, but i don't care this bike now rocks. I also can't say enough about Randy and his honesty, prompt communication and the work he and Robert did on this bike, a real pleasure working with them, first class all the way - thanks Randy this is now an awesome bike!

You are not alone in your feelings about the FJ.  Randy is one of the best one point sources around when it comes to the FJ. Your bike was in excellent hands.  He can sort out problems that would take most of us a long time to figure out.  You are lucky to live so close to a great shop.  Hope to meet you along the way.  Check out some of the rally's.

Life isn't about having the best, but about making the best of what you have...

You sir obviously have good judgment when it comes to wives, motorcycles and motorcycle mechanics. Nice looking bike. After Randy's work you should be able to enjoy it for many years to come. Ride safe.  Dave
A pistol is like a parachute, if you need one and don't have one you will never need one again.

Are you and your wife gonna make the WCR??

I have also had very good experiences with Randy and his son Robert. I will be using them help me rebuild my '86 and other projects in the cooking pot....
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Allright ,  :good2:

Just in time the weather is great now for rides .. There are a few riders in your area that would be willing to meet for a day ride. The other Andy F. is usually ready to go at a moments notice. I myself am sometimes over that way cause my favorite roads east have snow on them .

There is a section here on the boards for meetups to ride.

On the subject of spending too much money on the Fj   ...stop it, your killing me...   many of us burnt that bridge after we crossed it long ago.
