I noticed his advertising banners had disappeared..............

When you are a "contributor" the ads (advertising banner) no long show for your login.

Have had a few email conversations with Randy, he is really helpful and full of advice, and has helped me a lot.  I get the feeling he is just taking a hiatus from the forum and that he will return when he is ready. He has been replying to my emails as soon as he can (10 hour time difference here in Oz).

Guys...  Randy's fine.  He's got great support at RPM and they're hitting all commits.  He'll comment when he sees the need.  Can we move on?

Randy has always been extremely helpful, polite and quick with his deliveries. I will continue to support Randy when I need parts.

I have just walked into the house from a 661km ride with a wonderfully clear head and then read all this crap.

This has happened before, last time it was as simple as taking a different view on some mechanical issue and everyone jumps to Randy's defence, pages of it. How you can possibly construe having a different opinion as a slight on him personally remains a mystery.

Simply enquiring about his absence has prompted character references, testimonials, excuses etc, someone even suggested he was concentrating on building his business to provide for his family (tissues) I would have thought we were a large chunk of his business!

Randy is a businessman and we are his customers and he has never been shy on promoting, or let an opportunity slip by, to push that point. Fair enough, that's what you do when your in business, promote yourself to your customers at every available opportunity, I would do the same in his position. That is why I enquired about his absence from the forum, it is at odds with building his business and his previous form.

You are not doing him any favours. You make him look like the village idiot who can't defend himself, holding hands and forming a protective circle around him.
I'm sure it is well intentioned but the way it reads doesn't come across well.

We all know Randy is a great Dad, Son, Husband, Forum member, salt of the earth type of guy because we have been told many times by many people and although I don't know him, never met him nor ever spoken to him, I have no reason to doubt any of praise heaped on him is true, but I feel reasonably certain he can probably speak for himself if he is offended.

Whether he is sitting back smirking at his minions singing his praises or is embarrassed by others needing to defend him, I have no idea and don't care but the today's posts on this subject makes for cringe worthy reading.

I am a great supporter of Randy and buy much from him that I could source elsewhere for less, but I believe in supporting those that support us, just as I buy much from my local shops that I could by online or at the supermarket. I have spent $3500 with him in just the last 6 mths and have another order ready to go. Some things are specifically RPM but some aren't and could be bought elsewhere or locally.

I enjoy his posts and the odd debate with him and think the forum is the poorer for his absence.

My usual diplomacy has abandoned me tonight and this does smack of a dummy spit.

With all this out pouring of love for Randy, "andyb" (the other person's absence I enquired about in the same post) must feel very unloved, clearly no one cares less.

Geez Noel,  Since you started the thread tell us what you found out.. :mocking:
Did you check the forum log?
Did you PM the ones in question ?

Many of us will take a break from the forum for many reasons , sometimes we are just out riding around and don't take time for it. I know some who only post around Rally time. I myself was off for over 6 months once when my granddaughter was born and nobody noticed . They noticed when I started posting again.

From your latest response, You seem to be growing weeds so you can pull them .. that is some kind of passive aggressive crap .  Or I could be wrong .. :pardon:

Try this ,, stop posting and see how long it takes for someone to notice that "Noel it all" is absent.  :blum2:  :dance2:

Haha, I did just that last year for 4 or 5 months. I don't believe anyone noticed, certainly no one asked, but then I don't run a business with the forum as its customer base.

I wouldn't have thought it unreasonable to wonder why our preferred parts supplier and product innovator was no longer on the forum, as opposed to regular contributors like ourselves.

Anyway, I think my question has been adequately answered.

Hopefully Randy is in the same boat many of us are - Too much business and not enough time or people......

A good sign things are coming back, hopefully it sticks around this time.....
