exhaust studs -why all replaced?

MOTOMYSZOR

In my FJ, previous owner replaced whole exhaust system for "Motad Neta".
But also He replaced all exhaust studs for M8 screws....... So I believe that was some reason for that.
Maybe due to different collectors shape is not possible to fit the collars? And the easy way to fix it, is get rid of studs and use bolts???
Are my suspicion are right?

In a word - no. The Motad Neta system uses the original exhaust studs & collars. In the fact the system parts (downpipes, collector & silencers) are interchangeable with the original items in any combination.

I don't know why he did that... Are you able to change oil without removing the exhaust?

Myself I prefer studs on the exhaust because I remove the whole system to change my oil. If I had bolts for the exhaust they would strip out in the aluminum head with so many tightening cycles.

Whenever possible you should use a stud whenever threaded into aluminum. The threads in aluminum usually don't last through many tightening cycles. You should also thoroughly coat the threads with either a high temperature anti-sieze, or a Lok-Tite type of product. This will prevent the galvanic reaction that occurs between dissimilar metals.
