Heard about this on the radio yesterday, so I Googled it.  Though it is about driving those 4 wheeled vehicles (which we all also do), it is something nobody really thinks about.  Once you read it you'll never do it again  Maybe print it and put it in the glove box for the next passenger who thinks of doing it.

There are other angles to this to keep in mind as well, though this applies to the left seat. Ever seen someone with their arms on the top of the wheel? Arms through the wheel, or crossed over it? Sitting real close, (usually petite females)?
If your hands don't stay at three & nine o'clock, or at the bottom, you stand a good chance of being badly injured when the propellant (explosive) charge is fired in the airbag in a collision.
Broken arms or worse. You have to respect what's under that plastic cover. It's a bit similar to an ejection seat, it's meant to help save your life, but may break a lot of bones in the process.
