apparently they will be delivered tomorrow - BUT I have a doctors appointment in the city in the morning and then fly out to Melbourne for the International Challenge races at Phillip Island early afternoon, so there is little chance of me fitting them till I get back next Tuesday !

I don't have any suitable steel to hand otherwise I would have made some up. I could use 10mm alloy plate I guess, and Lust Racing could make me some fixed length but they are in the UK and would take minimum of 7 days to arrive none of which helps. I like the idea of the adjustable type as I can play with the height.

I am not familiar with those shocks , I used a Penske on mine with adj height .

I helped one of the fj riders here do a wheel conversion on a 90 fj and I made dog bones for it . What seems to be the best overall ride height is put your fj on its center stand and remove the dog bones . Then put a 1/4" piece of plywood under the back wheel and measure center to center for the new dog bones . That will put you right in the ball park of a good ridding balance .. If you raise the rear too high it will cause problems with the front wheel wear but turn really quick , if too low the front will have a vague feel that could lead to head shake. Always keep a record of what changes you did at what height and sag of the suspension so you have a reference guide when it gets out of shape and you need to go back to a neutral starting point.

There are many fine articles on setting up suspension of the fj , however you gotta do what feels right for you... Have fun. :dance2:

that's not a lot of clearance on the centre stand ?

What I'm finding is that with the Shorter R6 forks fitted I am still a bit more nose down than standard, and with the 100mm temp DB's installed, the 180/55 rear tyre has about 68mm clearance. (2.5") So I put a 10mm board under the front wheel to simulate this roughly.

With these new clip-ons I can drop the forks through the clamps another 10mm or so, which will reduce this clearance. I've got it all written down with reference measurements to so if I get in a headspin I can sit down with a cup of tea and mull it over  :biggrin:

I ordered one of the Ram Shox today. The guys had the spring specs and just needed some measurements of top and bottom mounts etc.
Total cost 270 GBP delivered. At that price, its worth a punt. I think they are new kids on the block, so may be the reason for the bargain, prices.

Its gotta be better than the old shock  :yes:

Yeah I see,

That is gonna need some adj.bones to play around with . Good deal on the shock if it all works out , I hope you gave them the weight of bike +rider +gear so they put the correct spring in it. You may be bouncing along like a bunny rabbit if the spring is too light.

Latest is they are still working on the clevis fitting type, so they will be around 4 weeks or so.

They realise they have to have that option elsewhere, so its good to see they are willing to adapt.

I'm sending them measurements of the std shock clevis to work from.
Still thinking of something..................
