GIVI painting

My GIVI E36 bags looking pretty sad, faded ugly grey. Would like to put a gloss black paint on the outside of these, anyone done this? Can I get a good result from rattle can? Type of paint, primer? Any information greatly appreciated.

Yep, VHT "Hood, Bumper and Trim " paint. I love this stuff and have used it for years with great success. The first thing I do when I get a car is paint the bumpers, mirrors, grill etc. Just the right sheen level and has proven to be very durable and doesn't look tacky, it looks every bit as good as the new factory finish. It's a polyurethane paint with elastomers for flexability and it is made for plastics. I have one car I did about 3 years ago and it lives outside in the weather. It still looks as good as the day I painted it. I have never bothered with primers, just make sure it's grease free with a good wash with dishwashing liquid. Only requires a single coat and yes, you get a great finish from a rattle can.
The results seem almost too good for such a simple process, clean and spray, that's it.

K&H used to make the best one before closing down and DO NOT use the Dupliclor version, it's crap.

The finish will mark with petrol, but if you've got fuel running over you panniers, that's the least of your Problems.

I have a 99 Dodge truck with with faded bumper covers (plastic) and early last year I repainted them with SEM Bumper paint.  So far I am real pleased with how it is holding up.  It is a product I would use for your application.  I cleaned the covers thoroughly and wiped them down with acetone before painting.
