There was a recent thread about purchase of tires from Jake Wilson by one of the Qld boys (was it you XRay?)

How did the purchase go?  Were the tires delivered in the stated time, and the order(s) correct?  Any hassles with the purchse?

I need a new set of tires for my 'other bike' and thought I'd also give them a try.
Any VIC riders also want/need some new rubber?
We'd save even more on shipping by buying 2 or 3 sets together and still be under the $1K no GST limit.

Arnie, I have bought 3 sets of tyres off Jake Wilson. Never any problems and have arrived on my door in 5 days. I think with the first order they have to verify payment details but once you are in the system it is straight forward. Highly recommended, although if it all turns to shit dont blame me. he he

Arnie, I've had nothing but good dealings with Jake Wilson. Bought at least 7 or 8 sets of tyres through them. A couple of mates have also delt with them and all was good. It's a shame the exchange rate is down but you will still save a lot of money. Delivery is super quick, as Stu said, usually 4 to 5 days.
Give them a go you won't be disappointed.

I've ordered all my tires from Jake Wilson for the past few years, and have always had top notch service at very competitive prices.  Though, they don't always have the cheapest prices available, they typically aren't much more and they still provide 3 day delivery for free in the U.S.  In my dealings with them, they have been very consistent in that regard.  Of course for me, they are a domestic supplier, so I can't comment on their international service first hand.  However, most of the items I've ordered internationally have taken up to a month and a half to arrive.  If you folks down under can get the tires delivered within 5 days at a reasonable cost, that is outstanding in my book.

While JakeWilson.com is the cheapest US retail supplier of tires that will ship to Australia (that I've found), it does NOT work out to our favor with the A$ currently down at US$0.77

Even buying 2 sets of tires doesn't change the bottom line. :-(

I've found some tires locally and will be purchasing them on Tuesday, after the holiday when the shops re-open.

So, if you've been considering joining my tire purchase exercise, sorry it just don't work right now.

Our dollar is a pain alright. I can't even place much needed RPM orders for the project bike until things improve :(

I think you may be waiting awhile Ray. just my opinion based on not more than a vibe.

I was telling Doug at Stua's man shed day. A local importer who brings 3 or 4 containers of old bikes from the states each year

is actually selling some of them back to his US contact  cause of the dollar.

Yeah, I got caught the other day. I bought a new phone without engaging my brain on where it was coming from, (or through) Nasty.

Yeah, It's a bummer, My last purchase from Randy came to around $650.00 US, but with shipping and conversion of our dollar, cost me $800.00. The rear brake caliper I bought recently was $45.00 US, but again with shipping which was $75.00 on top of conversion cost about $150.00.

Not much we can do about, If you need the parts you have to be prepared to pay the price.

Too young to be old but old enough to know better.

Sigh, My FJ speedo cable inner has broken.
This is the 2nd one in the 18 years I've owned the bike.
They just don't build quality bits anymore  :cray:  :wacko3:

Anyhow, Randy lists it for $15 (A$19.50) plus shipping,
but PeterStealer's quoted it to me as A$17.10 and it'll be there Tues or Weds.
Amazing.
