OK, that might be a little overly dramatic.

I picked up some parts yesterday, hoping they're something useful.

The Vance & Hines Power Pack # V20500 says it is for the FJ1200 (1989-?) but I can find nothing on it.

Dyna coils DC1-1 - hoping they'll work on my 1989 FJ1200

The K&N's are too small I'm afraid, they are # RC-1824

The voltmeter could be nice, as could the covered spark plug wire set.

I'm not sure the o-ring assort alone was not worth the price of the parts.   :pardon:

I have seen one Vance & Hines Power Pak for sale on eBay for the 1200's. From what I can gather, it replaces the igniter box and has dip switches inside that you can custom set for how your bike is set up.

Here is an example of an old FZR Power Pak that is on eBay

The Dyna coils should work.

Open the PowerPak and there should be a sticker on the EProm showing what model and year bike it is for.



On the inside of the cover is the Dip Switch settings. If the operators manual came in the box, you should be all set as to what settings to use.

heh, that looks like a nice score of parts
is that power pack new in the box? holy shnikies! your not gonna see that to often
some claim noticable power gains with some of the settings
i think they have to "charge" when the motor cranks over, making the bike have to crank on the starter longer than with the stock cdi before it will start
i imagine it works better with a full exhaust and a set of flatsides

Below are pictures of the label and what's inside.

No manual, I'll try and sort through some of the papers back where I picked this stuff up and see what I can fine.

I'm closer to picking up the balance of the motorcycle -

It's been used, for a couple of runs at Bonneville -

Set the class record "in the day" 188 MPH un-faired, not sure what it did with the fairing, I'll try to find all the documentation.

I will be following this thread with great interest. My 1990 came with the V&H PowerPak ignition. I have searched forums and even called Vance & Hines looking for a manual or any kind of documentation. I came up with a great big nothing. I haven't even opened it up to see where the DIP switches are set. I didn't see the sense in changing them if I have no clue what I am changing.

 Zero luck on finding a manual. And, as mentioned, V&H customer support was worthless.

I'm going to see if I can find the originals back where I picked the stuff up.

For an FZR but will give you the idea of the switches.  A common mistake i see a lot of people do is set a stock bike on the perf curves which delivers too little timing.

I have a powerpak that was installed  by the previous owner on my  FJ. I have no idea as to what changes it made to stock  preformance since I have nothing to compare it to. Would be interesting to have a side by side comparison.
