This isn't on an FJ, but it's a Yamaha kickstand one way or another.

I put lower shocks on my XJ and now it's standing a bit too upright for my taste. I want to shorten the kickstand. Is it better to cut and weld, or just to heat it up and bend it out a bit?

My 2 cents are....

Cut and weld. Purchase a second standard side stand in case you want to go back to the standard suspension.

Another option, is an adjustable side stand. Here is an example.

I had a bike project that was lowered 2" & the kickstand held the bike straight up & down. I took the kickstand to a welding shop & they cut a section out of the middle then welded it back together. Works great now.
